The design is a combination of classic and contemporary Andalusian architecture to create an elegant residence that includes traditional exterior features such as fountains, patios, and expansive covered and open terraces, together with clean, light-filled interiors, featuring full-width glass walls, multiple reception rooms, a modern island kitchen, six bedrooms, gym, spa, cinema, games room, and indoor and outdoor pools.
What TM did:
When we first showed the property to the client, it was a half-finished structure where building had stopped one year before. It was a complete wild card. We only decided to show it because we had exhausted all the options of ready-to-move-in properties in Sotogrande.
As so often happens, the client came to us with a specification for a very modern house and, in the end, purchased a traditional-looking home with a very modern interior. The client fell in love with the space, the view, and the layout, especially the inner courtyard and the possibilities a vast, unfinished basement offered.
The client felt confident the architectural firm – Ark Architects – we helped choose could deliver what he wanted and loved their vision for the house. From the moment we first viewed it to the time the client purchased took 6-8 months of negotiations, with another year to complete the property with bank-guaranteed payments.
We employed a structural engineer to ensure the existing structure was sound and confirm that an indoor pool could be cut into the basement foundations without affecting the structural integrity of the house. We selected Michael Millgate, a very experienced engineer from Belilos in Gibraltar to produce the structural report and oversee the indoor pool installation. We also organized a project manager to oversee final snagging. This was Bradley Falconer, who is a qualified architect working in the Sotogrande area.
