Culture in Inland Andalucía
Despite not being as well known for its night-life as the coastal towns are, there is plenty of history, culture and museums that are definitely worth visiting more than once. Ronda in particular has its amazing gorge, the mines which will take you to the bottom of the gorge itself, wonderful shops selling Arabic goods, not to mention fabulous food and views.
Casares is a beautiful example of the typical white villages of Andalucía and the road up to it will show you the beauty of the Andalucían countryside. Casares enjoys some good festivals and beautiful “miradors” where you can enjoy a drink and the views.
Jimena de la Frontera is in the province of Cadíz and similar to Casares enjoys many festivals that are a wonderful way to experience Spanish culture.
Gaucín is very rich in culture having originally been of mostly Roman origins until the Muslims took over. If you have an interest in architecture and the effects that religion have on it this is the place to visit. There is also the local Flamenco festival, bull festival and two other religious festivals.
